Assistantprofessorship in Political Theory

Prof. Dr. Jenniger Page

Contemporary political theory examines real-world political and social issues from a normative perspective. Situated at the intersection of philosophy and political science, the field is informed by empirical and historical research while using methodologies familiar to political philosophers and applied ethicists. Core subjects include questions of political authority and the duties of political subjects to obey the law, the justification of state punishment, and the ethics of war and peace. Also prominent in the research and teaching agendas of this professorship are topics within structural injustice theory (climate change, historical injustice and reparations, global labor injustice, etc.), critical philosophy of race, the ethics of policing and criminal justice, and theories of social identity.
