The position is affiliated with the Department of Philosophy of the University of Zurich. It is directly connected to the chair of Social Theory and Philosophy of the Social Sciences held by Prof. Dr. Catherine Herfeld. More information about the department and the chair can be found here and here.
The duties that come with this position are primarily to pursue one's dissertation research and support the chair in duties that arise in the context of the research project (e.g., organizing conferences and workshops). Teaching courses is possible but optional
We are especially interested in candidates who have a background in philosophy of science with a particular focus on economics. Ideally, the candidate plans to work on a topic closely related to one of the chair's research project 'Concept Formation in Economics'. This project is part of the newly funded interdisciplinary research program «Inequality of Opportunities», which involves the faculties of philosophy and of economics. Candidates are expected to be able to communicate and potentially collaborate with philosophers, economists, and political scientists.

Fluency in German is not mandatory but beneficial.
